FEBRUARY 24, 2022 – Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Tone Numata Techno Academy (TNTA) of Japan team up with Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) once again, to conduct a series of free webinars for the members of the Construction Industry of the Philippines. The first webinar was conducted with CMDF staff on February 10, 2022.

Members of the private sector attended the second webinar last February 14 2022, with over 270 participants. Entitled Housing Evaluation in Japan and Introduction of the Latest Building Materials, it focused on housing performance, energy consumption, air circulation and seismic performance as discussed by resource speakers Mr. Akio Nunome, Mr. Yuichi Shimizu, Ms. Jei Mojica, and Mr. Satoshi Arai with Japanese to English translation from Ms. Risa Karikomi.

The third and last webinar was conducted with over 50 government representatives with more focus on improvement of energy-saving performance for housing considering exterior skin and indoor thermal resistance and performance, and primary energy consumption.

CMDF was represented by Executive Director Engr. Rene E. Fajardo and Division Chief Ms. Ofelia R. Usigan while Mr. Satoshi Matsuura, Mr. Toshihiko Kuwabara, Mr. Takahiro Matsuzawa and Mr. Koki Matsuzawa attended in behalf of MLIT and TNTA.

These webinars aim to increase awareness on methods and technologies on reducing carbon footprint in the built environment during the occupation phase. It is also a part of MLIT’s Transfer of Technology and initiative. Mr. Matsuzawa, TNTA Director, hopes that the objective on decarbonization and/or low-carbon in construction is common between the Philippines and Japan.
