CMDF and FCUSI provide free ISO 45001 Webinar for New Contractors
FEBRUARY 09, 2022 – Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) partnered with FCU Solutions Incorporated (FCUSI) to conduct an ISO 45001 Appreciation Webinar to assist new contractors with Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
The webinar was led by FCUSI Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dindo A. Uy with opening remarks from CMDF Executive Director Engr. Rene E. Fajardo and technical discussion from speaker, Engr. Leah Girao.
The webinar was offered for free and attended by around 190 participants from all over the Philippines. A workshop on Hazard Identification was conducted as well as sharing of best practices and experiences.
The primary goal of ISO 45001 is to help companies and organizations establish and implement an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system to ensure safety and in effect, improve their business processes. It also enables compliance to laws and regulations and helps gain stakeholder trust.
Construction workplaces are classified as high-risk establishments by the Department of Labor and Employment through DO 198 Series of 2018. On top of that, given the situation brought by the pandemic, more and more safety threats and consequently, business threats arise. While no organization is immune, these challenges prove more overwhelming to new and small businesses.
This activity hopes to encourage businesses to take steps to ensure the safety and health of both employees and stakeholders. As Engr. Girao emphasized, “Safety isn’t expensive, its priceless.”
