MAKATI CITY โ€” On March 20, 2025, the Philippine Domestic Construction Board (PDCB) and the Philippine Architecture Schools Association (PhilASA) Inc. formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing the architecture curriculum. This partnership aims to introduce the CIAP Document 102 or the Uniform General Conditions of Contract for Private Construction, either as reference material or an additional learning objective in the syllabi of contract-related courses.

The agreement aligns with the shared goal of both organizations to better prepare architecture students for actual practice. It emphasizes the importance of understanding contractual rights, obligations, and industry standards, which are crucial for roles in project supervision, monitoring, and management in the construction industry.

A key feature of the MOU is the provision of technical training on construction contracts and CIAP Document 102 for faculty members, instructors, and professors teaching architecture and engineering courses. This initiative is expected to foster stronger ties between government and academia, contributing to the growth and professionalization of the construction industry in the Philippines.

The MOU also serves as a stepping stone toward equipping future architects and engineers with the necessary tools to thrive in the evolving industry landscape.
