The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan held a Courtesy Visit to the Department of Trade and Industry – Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (DTI-CIAP) last 08 November 2023 in Makati City, Philippines.
 
In a testament to their enduring collaboration, DTI-CIAP through CMDF together with MLIT, headed by the Director for Oversea business, International Markets Division, Ms. Ikue Takahara, co-organized a business matching activity that brought together member companies from the newly formed Japan Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises for Overseas Construction (JASMOC) and Filipino construction firms. The gathering underscored the robust partnership between the two nations in the realm of infrastructure development.

During the event, CIAP Alternate Chairperson and DTI Assistant Secretary Atty. Agaton Teodoro Uvero delivered a keynote speech citing the importance of expanding the partnership beyond human resource development to provide comprehensive services that mutually benefit both Japanese and Filipino construction companies. Notably, the focus was on supporting the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), which serve as the backbone of both economies.
 
The event saw the participation of 16 Japanese and Filipino construction SMEs (Tokyo Rope International, Inc., Advantec Philippines, Inc., Ligare Co., LTD., Toyo Kensetsu Kohki Co., LTD., and Archivision 21 Co., Ltd., Multistyle Specialist, Inc., Cabalce Electrical Constructors, Inc., CNP Construction and Supply, Rutland Trading and Construction, Primebuilt Construction, Polyphase One Construction Inc., LCTSI Lead Core Technology System, Inc., RPV Electrotech Power System Inc, Cycon, Inc., and Genikos Power, Inc.).
 
The presence of officials from the DTI, CIAP and its implementing boards, and MLIT emphasized the significance of this collaborative effort.
 
This event marked a significant step in advancing cooperation between the two nations, aligning with the shared goals of promoting innovation, excellence, and sustainable growth in the construction sector.
